چکیده

A fuzzy approach to segmentation of the cruciate ligaments of the knee joint and a three dimensional visualization method are presented in this paper. The cruciate ligaments are the major stabilizers of the knee. The ligaments injuries are common nowadays and a correct diagnostics, preceding the surgical therapy is a very important task. Segmentation of the ligaments is difficult due to a poor visibility of edges in some cases of injuries and their appearance on a small number of slides at Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The method described here is based on fuzzy connectedness principles. It creates a fuzzy connectivity scene by assigning a strength of connectedness to each possible path between some predefined seed point and any other image element. Then such scene is thresholded to produce final segmentation result. The conventional fuzzy connectedness method with Dijkstra algorithm for creating the fuzzy connectivity scene has been implemented in a 3D space. The object, being the result of segmentation process, is visualized in the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) environment. The method has been tested on a set of images. An example of its performance is shown along with some plans for future research.

تحلیل دامنه حرکتی و سرعت زاویه ای مفاصل اندام تحتانی در بیماران دارای رباط صلیبی قدامی بازسازی شده هنگام فرود از ارتفاع

Aims and background: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is the most common ligament injury of the lower limb that necessitates reconstruction as a proper treatment approach. It is now up to the researchers to ask, are the altered kinematic patterns in the lower limbs corrected by this reconstruction? The present study aims to analyze the range of motion and angular velocity of the lower limb jo...

Spatial Change of Cruciate Ligaments in Rat Embryo Knee Joint by Three-Dimensional Reconstruction

This study aimed to analyze the spatial developmental changes of rat cruciate ligaments by three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction using episcopic fluorescence image capture (EFIC). Cruciate ligaments of Wister rat embryos between embryonic day (E) 16 and E20 were analyzed. Samples were sectioned and visualized using EFIC. 3D reconstructions were generated using Amira software. The length of the ...

Relationship between Femoral Intercondylar Notch Narrowing on Radiography and Anatomical and Histopathologic Integrity of Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Abstract Introduction: The presence of cruciate ligaments are very important for normal knee kinematics. Knee arthroplasty prostheses, in which these ligaments are maintained, have better kinematics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between femoral intercondylar notch narrowing in radiography and clinical and histopathologic integrity of anterior cruciate li...
